The Taphophile™

The Taphophile is our brand devoted to cemetery history, gothic artistry, remembrance, and storytelling. The name comes from the Greek — a taphophile is someone who loves cemeteries, who finds beauty and meaning in the art and history of the places where the dead are laid to rest.

Keeper of Stones. Seeker of Stories.

✦

How It Began

My grandmother taught me to read the stones — not just the names and dates, but the symbols. The weeping willow for grief. The broken column for a life cut short. The hand pointing upward toward heaven. The ivy that never stops growing.

I grew up understanding that a cemetery is not a place of endings. It is a library. An art gallery. A record of lives lived, loves lost, and communities built and buried together.

The Taphophile™ grew out of that understanding — a brand devoted to honoring the dead, preserving their stories, and creating beautiful objects inspired by the art and history of remembrance.

Our products — stickers, miniature books, memorial prints, postcards, zines, cemetery guides, and cemetery-themed art — are made with care and reverence. Each one is meant to honor the people remembered there, and to treat the dead with the dignity they deserve.

What We Believe

A cemetery is not a place to fear. It is a place to learn, to reflect, and to find unexpected beauty in the art of mourning. The Taphophile™ exists to celebrate that beauty — through memorial art, cemetery history, and a community of people who understand that walking among old headstones is one of the most human things you can do.

The dead are not gone. They are waiting to be remembered.

✦

What We Stand For

✦ Preservation

Cemetery art and history deserve to be documented, shared, and protected. Every stone tells a story worth keeping.

✦ Reverence

We approach the dead and their resting places with respect, care, and genuine appreciation for what they left behind.

✦ Storytelling

Names carved in stone are the beginning of a story, not the end. We exist to help tell the rest of it.

✦ Artistry

Victorian mourning culture produced some of the most beautiful art ever made. We carry that tradition forward.
