The Memorial Archive
Speak Their Names
A name spoken is not entirely lost.
Speak Their Names is a growing memorial archive devoted to preserving the names, photographs, and stories of people whose lives deserve to be remembered. Some will come from cemetery records and archival research. Others may one day be entrusted to us by families and descendants.
This archive is being prepared with care.
Archive Standards
How this archive is kept
- Every person represented must be treated with dignity.
- Historical claims must be supported by available records.
- Family photographs and personal stories require permission before publication.
- Uncertainty must be identified rather than filled with invention.
- Memorialization must never be treated as spectacle.
The Archive
Names Recovered from the Stones
Names and lives recovered through cemetery fieldwork, gravestone transcription, and archival research. Each entry begins with what the stone itself records.
Family Memorials
Memorial entries entrusted to The Taphophile™ by families and descendants, shared with permission and prepared with care.
Lives Nearly Lost to History
People whose names survive only in fragments — a stone, a census record, a single photograph. Research in progress.
Speak Their Names is a cultural, historical, and memorial project. It is not an obituary service, genealogical certification service, grief-counseling program, or substitute for professional historical research.
